Manhattan has 18 alumni who are members of the prestigious National Academy of Engineering.
Manhattan College's unique team name, Jaspers, comes from Brother Jasper of Mary, FSC, who served as the prefect of discipline in the 19th century. Br. Jasper brought the then little-known sport of baseball to Manhattan College, served as the team's first coach and is credited in the Baseball Hall of Fame for creating the 7th inning stretch.
